Both boys are down for their afternoon nap, so I thought I’d jump on here and show y’all a bit of progress on our little garden. Our steel beds arrived very quickly and Blaine got to work putting them together. But first, he graded the garden area with the tractor. It’s just outside our kitchen window.

Chicken n’ Dumplings
One of my favorites! This is my recipe for delicious chicken n’ dumplings. It starts with flavorful stock – made with the leftovers of a rotisserie chicken.

Toss all of the ingredients into a large pot and simmer for several hours
Raised Bed Garden – Part I
Audrey Hepburn said, βTo plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.β
Blaine and I have decided to start a small garden this year. We’re planning to do raised beds instead of a traditional in-ground garden. Continue reading
Houston Visit & Round Top 2020
In the fall of 2020, I made my way down to Houston to visit a few friends and hit the Round Top Antiques Fair. It was my last hurrah before having baby George!

Houston pals
I took a ton of photos, so I’ll try to keep the words brief. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!
UPPER KIRBY CONSIGNMENT in HOUSTON
The cutest little shop – located on Ferndale Street in Houston.
Jack Turns Three
Jack turned three last week and I can hardly believe it! Slow down time.
We had a family brunch party over the weekend to celebrate. I stayed up late the night before preparing the table and food.

He wanted a blue and green cake. I tried!
Valentine’s Day

My husband’s second home – a very high performing drilling rig
It’s been a good week for me here at home. I’ve recently started a new business! Mirmade Treats LLC is accepting local orders for sweets! Feel free to contact me via mir@mirmadetreats.com. I am insured, getting my license soon, and am working on getting a permit. I’ve always loved to bake/cook and so I’m having fun with this new little adventure. We will wait and see where it goes – if anywhere! π

My brownies – dark chocolate, European butter, and vanilla
I’m trying to keep it dialed back to just two days per week for now. I want to spend time with our little boy, Jack, while I can.

My traditional French chocolate mousse – Belgian chocolate, butter, Grand Marnier

I made candied orange peel as garnish for the mousse pots

I played around with some choux dough and made these poufs for a client. Fluffy pastry filled with vanilla pastry cream and topped with a chocolate ganache.
I appreciate all the business I received this week and the interest in my baked goods. I’m also contracting for Angi’s Eats and Sweets, a local caterer and lunch hot spot/food truck. I worked for Angi in the early 2000s when I was in high school, now 20 years later so it feels natural to be back beside her again. Her and her husband’s food is always so good!

Some of my goodies for sale in Angi’s cold case

Never too old for a good old fashioned Valentine in the mail! Loved getting this.
