Built-In Cabinet

We have a built-in cabinet in the dining room. It has the original old wavy glass and its shelves are super sturdy. We definitely wanted to preserve it when renovating and I’m glad we did.

Here it is just before demo 2015

Mid demo

Grandma Hannah had the two glass doors lined in a sheer white fabric – the same fabric used on the window treatments in the room. I like that idea.

See the white sheers on the inside of the doors?

Today we use the cabinet to store various things such as stemware, liquors, antique silver, and English and Delft china.

Another pic today – keeping it real with toys EVERYWHERE 🙂

Anyway, I’ve been thinking about the possibility of lining it with a pretty fabric. (And if I ever get around to curtains in the kitchen/dining room, they should coordinate.) I’ve collected a few images for inspiration.

I’m filing this post away for this potential future little project. I think we might even still have grandma’s tiny brass curtain rods she used in the basement somewhere. I’ll have to hunt for them!
