Nursery Inspiration

We will hopefully find out the gender of our new baby within the next couple weeks! I’ve already been thinking about how to decorate the nursery.  We’re going to make the north bedroom the nursery. Here is what we have to work with, and some fun trips down memory lane:

The bedroom as it was when we bought the house from Grandma. Walk-in closet, shown, remains.

New drywall in 2017.

Plastered walls and ceilings and freshly painted wood floors. Summer 2018.

Today, the room is a blank canvas with painted white floors, white trim, and pale cream walls. It’s currently occupied by our friend, Matt, and a terrible mess – so I won’t show its photo now! 🙂 Just imagine a clean slate. 😉

The nursery’s current antique light fixture

I was thinking of adding shades to the existing antique chandelier (shown above), similar to the inspiration below.

So cute for a little boy! We actually have these dog hooks in Jack’s closet. I never thought to paint them (ours are black.) Love the gilding.

Sweet and traditional baby boy blue and white nursery

I bought these stacking storage baskets…they’re on back-order until October/November.

Here they are again. Would be cute for either gender, I think! They’re Bunny Williams for Ballard Designs.

Since Jack (2) is still sleeping in his crib, I purchased another one for the new nursery.

This listing is my Farmhouse Basic Washed Cotton Crib Skirt. 100% washed cotton farmhouse basic style gathered crib skirt in Natural. Finished length of skirt is approximately 20. This bedding is beautiful and classic, made all by hand with a soft washed 100% cotton fabric. The

Here is the antique crib that I purchased. It’s a light cream color.

I found the crib at Courtyard Antiques in Paducah, Kentucky as soon as I found out I was pregnant.

We have bamboo blinds in the nursery now – and we’ll keep them. I’m loving the striped walls here. Would be sweet for a boy or girl.

Love this. Could do pale pink stripes if baby is a girl.

I like the mix of pattern and color. Gender neutral.

For a girl – pale pink on the walls and cream/floral curtains/upholstery. Love that antique bed with scallop details!!

I love this antique Swedish or Dutch child’s bed too.

Another sweet idea for a girl. Super pale pink walls. Peony prints. Gingham.

I’ve always loved blush pink and pistachio green together. Maybe we could go that direction if baby is a girl.

I’m on the hunt for an affordable area rug, too. (Click photos below to take you to the rug source.)

Roughly 8×10′ area rug for $150 via Overstock. Reviews say it’s a pale pink. May smell and need to air out for a couple weeks.

8×10′ taupe rug, with premium pad, for $218 at Rugs USA. Reviews say it may pull easily, though.

8×10′ seagrass for $277 at Overstock.

Small, but love the colors. Could layer on top of seagrass? Persian wool. $200 on Mercari.

Can’t wait to find out baby’s gender and start decorating the nursery soon! Gotta run – Jack’s nap time is over!
