Blaine and I were honored to have our home featured in part of the town-wide Holiday Home Tour, put on by the local library. We had lots of fun meeting all of the guests who paid us a visit yesterday.
In case you missed the open-house tour, please enjoy the digital tour below!
THE FRONT ENTRY
My dad parked my great-grandpa, Steve Mitchell’s, 1946 truck in the front yard.
THE BACK ENTRY
THE MUDROOM
Hand-painted Santa gourds (by my talented aunt Julie) sat atop the laundry machines.
On the pulley-maid, I hung Christmas outfits from past to present: our baby Jack’s, mine when I was about 1 yr old, and my husband Blaine’s when he was little (given to me by his aunts). So sweet!
THE KITCHEN
We served this punch from Southern Living.
My grandma Phyllis supplied the homemade divinity candy, and my mom made lots of other candies and cookies for guests to enjoy.
THE DINING ROOM
We set the table with 19th century Haviland Limoges France china – borrowed from my grandma Phyllis and her husband, Chuck.
THE FAMILY ROOM
Our large tree features some handmade ornaments which were exchanged with friends earlier this year. The ornaments go along with this book.
THE DEN
THE DOWNSTAIRS BATH
Embroidered linens are from Number Four Eleven in Savannah, GA.
Christmas shea butter soaps are from Leftovers Antiques in Brenham, TX.
Authentic jingle bells, below, are from an antique store in Houston.
We had some very special visitors at the end of the open-house. W.C. Kane‘s granddaughters came from western St. Louis to tour the home and meet us! They hadn’t been in the home since they were little girls! It’s neat for us to have a connection over this old house. We enjoyed meeting them and talking about memories shared in the home.
I hope you enjoyed this tour! Have a wonderful December as we anticipate Christ and celebrate Christmas – His Coming.
“The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” Luke 2:11
